Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a global peer-led mutual aid fellowship begun in the United States dedicated to abstinence-based recovery from alcoholism through its twelve-step program. AA's twelve traditions, besides stressing anonymity, establish it as non-professional, non-denominational, and apolitical with a public relations policy stressing attraction rather than promotion. In 2020 AA estimated a worldwide membership of over two million, with 75% of those in the US and Canada.

Business As Usual

BAU is the normal execution of standard functional operations within an organisation and forms a possible contrast to projects or programmes which might introduce change. BAU may also stand in contradistinction to external events which may have the effect of unsettling or distracting those inside an organisation. "Business as usual" is a phrase that is frequently used in climate change studies to warn of the dangers of not implementing changes to prevent the world from warming further.

Marie Curie

Maria Salomea Skłodowska-Curie; known simply as Marie Curie, was a Polish and naturalised-French physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person to win a Nobel Prize twice, and the only person to win a Nobel Prize in two scientific fields. Her husband, Pierre Curie, was a co-winner of her first Nobel Prize, making them the first-ever married couple to win the Nobel Prize.
