High Altitude Observatory

The High Altitude Observatory (HAO) conducts research. It provides support and facilities for the solar-terrestrial physics research community in solar and heliospheric physics, and the effects of solar variability on the Earth's magnetosphere, ionosphere, and upper atmosphere. HAO's mission is to understand the behaviour of the Sun and its impact on the Earth, to support, enhance, and extend the capabilities of the university community and the broader scientific community.

Department for Education

The Department for Education (DfE) is a department of His Majesty's Government responsible for child protection, child services, education (compulsory, further, and higher education), apprenticeships, and wider skills in England. A Department for Education previously existed between 1992, when the Department of Education and Science was renamed, and 1995, when it was merged with the Department for Employment to become the Department for Education and Employment.

Laugh Out Loud

LOL is an initialism for laughing out loud and a popular element of Internet slang. It was first used almost exclusively on Usenet, but has since become widespread in other forms of computer-mediated communication and even face-to-face communication. It is one of many initialisms for expressing bodily reactions, in particular laughter, as text, including initialisms for more emphatic expressions of laughter such as LMAO ("laughing my ass off") and ROFL or ROTFL ("rolling on the floor laughing").
