Local Anesthetic

A local anaesthetic (LA) is a medication that causes the absence of all sensations (including pain) in a specific body part without loss of consciousness, as opposed to a general anaesthetic, which eliminates all sensations in the entire body and causes unconsciousness. Local anaesthetics are most commonly used to eliminate pain during or after surgery.

Operating System

An operating system (OS) is system software that manages computer hardware and software resources and provides common services for computer programs. Time-sharing operating systems schedule tasks for efficient use of the system and may also include accounting software for cost allocation of processor time, mass storage, peripherals, and other resources.

Virtual Machine

In computing, a virtual machine (VM) is the virtualization or emulation of a computer system. Virtual machines are based on computer architectures and provide the functionality of a physical computer. Their implementations may involve specialized hardware, software, or a combination of the two. Some virtual machine emulators, such as QEMU and video game console emulators, are designed to also emulate (or "virtually imitate") different system architectures.
